Details about Youth Unity CIC and the ReThreaded Project
This will be a youth-led sustainable fashion project in Havering working in partnership with Havering Youth Services, called ReThreaded. This project will give young people the chance to explore fashion, creativity and enterprise while tackling the issue of waste. Through upcycling second-hand clothes, participants will design original pieces, learn branding and digital marketing skills and even sell their creations online. Pupils will be referred to this project from the ‘Wave’ programme, girls will come from Youth Offenders, schools, alternative provisions or other outreach routes. The project will benefit 24 girls over the course of the programme.
Delivery of the Project
The project will commence in January 2026. By the end of the programme, participants will have:
A portfolio of upcycled fashion pieces
A youth-created brand identify for RETHREADED.
Increased confidence and practical skills
Experience in storytelling, social media and digital content
New friendships and a sense of belonging
A platform to share their voice
