London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Physical Activity/Education sector

Details of the Project

We are delighted to be working with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham helping them to deliver physical activity and well-being events across schools in the Borough.  We are supporting two projects this term.  A multi-activity day at Stubbers Outdoor Centre for 24 pupils from Eastbrook School and Robert Clark School, the pupils have been identified as vulnerable and at-risk children and with our funding they will now be able to experience a day of water sports, target sports, tower/climbing activities which will build confidence, self-esteem, teamwork skills and an appreciation for the outdoor environment.  We are also supporting the delivery of three girls’ physical activity and well-being days across schools in both Barking and Dagenham and also Redbridge.  These events will reach 400 girls and make an enormous difference to their well-being, both physical and mental.

Delivery of the Stubbers Project

On Tuesday 15th July, 24 pupils from Robert Clark and Eastbrook School took part in a fantastic multi-activity day at Stubbers Adventure Centre. The event was organised by LBBD and funded by Park Charitable Trust for Girls. The activities included paddleboarding, Leap of Faith, Axe Throwing and Raft Building.

The pupils were specifically selected as pupils who would most benefit from the experience, dependent upon varying factors and needs. The aim of the session would be to improve mental health and wellbeing, enhance academic performance, improve social skills, connect to nature and encourage engagement and inclusivity.
