Five Elms Primary School based in the borough of Barking & Dagenham has a high 31% of children who are Free School Meals.  Staff have identified a need to provide a pro-active, structured space where girls can develop a strong sense of identify, build physical and emotional resilience, learn practical assertiveness skills, and experience safe peer support networks.

Details of the Project

The Girls Assertiveness Club will allow 30 girls in Years 2 to 6, over a 12 week period, to participate in two structured phases, combining physical empowerment with sessions facilitated by BoxUpCrime, teaching self-defence, physical empowerment and assertiveness skills, followed by sessions delivered by the school’s pastoral team/art therapist,
