Burnside Secondary PRU (part of the Hawkswood Group) supports vulnerable young people aged 11016 from across Waltham Forest who are not in mainstream education, many of whom are at risk of or have experienced permanent exclusion.  This alternative school provision provide short-term interventions of up to 20 weeks, offering both academic and vocational learning alongside strong personal development and wellbeing support.

Our funding will enable 10 female pupils to undertake and achieve an AQA qualification in Hair and Beauty as well as receiving some 1:1 mental health wellbeing sessions.  We are also providing funding to kit out and refurnish one of the rooms to create a safe and nurturing environment for the girls to use, including sanitary products, and comforting equipment to encourage mental well-being and regulation.
